That makes tips on <strong>how to maximize your social media productivity,</strong>such as those shared by<strong> </strong> <a href="http://intrepid-llc.com/bio/">Todd Schnick</a>, co-founder of #Innochat, on his <a href="http://intrepid-llc.com/social-media/social-media-outline-14-march-2009/">strategy for allocating your time</a> very valuable.<span id="more-1042"></span> Todd’s recommendation was to <strong>divide your social media participation time into thirds</strong>, with 1/3 of your time within each category:</p>
<ul style="text-align: justify;">
<li><strong>Observing / listening</strong> in others’ social media outlets</li>
<li><strong>Participating </strong>in others’ outlets through commenting, guest blogging, etc.</li>
<li><strong>Creating content</strong> and being active within your own outlets</li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Ever since Todd shared that concept in early 2009, his social media productivity strategy has been front and center in my mind (and ensconced in my social media strategy presentations). The truth is <strong>I rarely come close to this balanced approach</strong> since creating Brainzooming content definitely represents the majority of my time.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>One way of improving</strong> on your time allocation <strong>is</strong> <strong>by investing your effort in activities which contribute to more than one of these categories</strong>.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Based on some approaches I’ve tried,<strong> here are 13 strategies to maximize the efficiency of your time investment in social media:</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>1.</strong> <strong>Use tweets</strong> with your original content as input<strong> to create a blog post</strong>. For example, this <a href="http://brainzooming.com/?p=4030">blog post on 5 personal strategies</a> started as a series of individual tweets.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>2.</strong> <strong>Comment</strong> on another blog <strong>and use the comment</strong> as the basis<strong> for an original post</strong> on your blog.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>3.</strong> Do a <strong>post</strong> <a href="http://brainzooming.com/?p=925"><strong>comprised of comments (or links) other people have shared</strong> on Twitter</a> you’ve found valuable.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>4.</strong> <a href="http://brainzooming.com/?p=5124"><strong>Incorporate Twitter-based responses</strong> you’ve received from others</a> on your content / ideas / tweets<strong> into a blog post</strong>.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>5.</strong> <strong>Write a post </strong><a href="http://brainzooming.com/?p=1058"><strong>inviting guest posts</strong> for your blog</a>, then <strong>tweet links</strong> to your invitation post <strong>to solicit guest bloggers</strong>.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>6.</strong> When you come across<strong> </strong><a href="http://brainzooming.com/?p=1004"><strong>someone interested in topics related to your blog</strong>, <strong>ask</strong> them to do <strong>a guest blog</strong></a><strong>post</strong> (and refer them back to the post in #5).</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>7.</strong> If you <strong>write a guest post for another site</strong>, <strong>do a </strong><a href="http://brainzooming.com/?p=3640"><strong>complementary post on your blog</strong></a> pointing your followers to it.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>8.</strong> <strong>Participate in Twitter-based chats</strong> on topics of interest (#TChat – Tues at 8 pm ET, #Innochat – Thu at 12 noon ET, #Ideachat – Monthly, 2nd Saturday at 9 am ET) and <a href="http://brainzooming.com/?p=4996"><strong>use your comments</strong> during the chat as the basis<strong>for a blog post</strong></a>.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>9.</strong> <a href="http://brainzooming.com/?p=2655"><strong>Create</strong> your own <strong>Twitter chat</strong></a> linked to your blog topic to benefit your audience.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>10. Use answers</strong> you’ve created <strong>for LinkedIn Q&amp;A</strong> or other discussion groups<strong> as starters for blog posts</strong>.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>11.</strong> <strong>Write a </strong><a href="http://brainzooming.com/?p=631"><strong>response article to a blog post</strong> you’ve come across via Twitter, RSS feeds</a>, etc.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>12.</strong> <strong>Use what people</strong> on Facebook, Twitter, or other networks<strong> are talking</strong> <strong>about as</strong> the <strong>inspiration </strong>for a post. Be sure to <strong>include links to the original conversation</strong>, including letting the people you’re referencing know about it so they can promote it within their networks.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>13.</strong> <strong>Answers to reader questions can be </strong>reformatted into <strong>blog posts</strong>. This post was originally an email response to a reader’s question about how to strengthen his social media participation without taking too much time from necessary business development activities!</p>

Instead of adding a button or right-click-activated contextual menu to your browser, Cortex pops up an innovative sharing circle when you hold down your mouse button. The circle looks cool, sure, but it&#8217;s also a quick way to share stuff on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and Instapaper without even clicking. Just drag to the part of the circle you want to use and let go. You can even set up Cortex to share with specific friends on Facebook.<span id="more-1039"></span><br />
Once you choose the network where you want to share, you&#8217;ll see a prompt to add a note and you can then hit return to send it. That&#8217;s it. It&#8217;s that easy. Cortex has some weaknesses, though, depending on your sharing habits. Social media pros who need to post to a dozen networks at once probably won&#8217;t find much use for it, but the average user who has accounts on the four Cortex-compatible networks (and doesn&#8217;t cross-post often) will love it.</p>
<p>A couple of tips: holding down your mouse over an image will let you share that image instead of a link to the whole page. Also, if you share something by mistake, or accidentally pick the wrong network, you can cancel by hitting escape.</p>

The move, though not earth shattering in its own right, highlights the continual shift of Twitter away from being a communication tool to that of an information hub.</p>
<p>The announcement highlights a number of partnerships with location-based services like <a href="http://gowalla.com/">Gowalla</a>,<a href="http://www.localeze.com/">Localeze</a>, <a href="http://opentable.com/">OpenTable</a> and <a href="http://tomtom.com/">TomTom</a>, among others, that Twitter developer advocate Matt Harris says will &#8220;serve as a foundation for a number of exciting features we have planned to help users find what&#8217;s new in their area and around the world.&#8221;<span id="more-1027"></span></p>
<p>Twitter began offering the <a href="http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/place_your_tweets_with_twitter_locations.php">ability to tag Tweets with specific places</a> last June, including Gowalla and<a href="http://foursquare.com/">Foursquare</a> integration, but until now developers had to search for tweets in relation to places according to the correct service, not the place itself. Now, according to the <a href="http://dev.twitter.com/pages/finding_tweets_about_places">documentation</a>, Twitter supports both Twitter place IDs and IDs from partner providers. In this week&#8217;s announcement, Harris writes:</p>
<blockquote><p>To make it easy for you to use the large data set, we&#8217;re using an index that combines the IDs across different partners into one. This means you can use the IDs from your preferred partner&#8217;s dataset when using Twitter Search to find Tweets about a specific place.</p></blockquote>
<p>In this way, Twitter can act as a connector of services &#8211; a one-stop shop for place data. You can check in with Gowalla and then have that place data easily accessible for use with another service as if you had checked in with Twitter itself. By making its database of places relational, Twitter is positioning itself in much the same way Facebook has with its Places product.</p>
<p>Mick Johnson, co-founder of <a href="http://whereoscope.com/">Whereoscope</a>, told us that he saw this as a move to help attract developers.</p>
<p>&#8220;Twitter is fighting the place database battle by giving app developers a &#8216;zero-cost&#8217; way to adopt,&#8221; said Johnson. &#8220;If you&#8217;re Gowalla, you get all of Twitter&#8217;s data while retaining the option to switch out, because you&#8217;re still using the same ID. Conversely if you want to integrate with Facebook, you don&#8217;t have a way out afterwards.&#8221;</p>
<p>Basically, Twitter is doing the work of relating different places on its service, so location services don&#8217;t have to commit to using its places IDs and risk alienating itself with other services. Currently, Twitter has announced partnerships with <a href="http://dev.twitter.com/pages/finding_tweets_about_places">13 companies</a>, giving developers the ability to search by their place IDs in addition to Twitter&#8217;s own IDs.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Trăim într-o eră în care internetul semnifică foarte mult în viaţă noastră. Socializăm, bloguim, facem cumpărături, rezervăm bilete de avion, tren, film, căutăm job-uri, citim forumuri s.a.m.d.</p>
<p><a href="http://ro.fedorovici.name/internetul-in-romania-50-locul-3-mondial-ep-1/" target="_blank">Vă puteţi imagina viaţă fără internet?</a> Asta ar însemna să te duci la muncă timp de 8-10 ore după care ajungând acasă, te uiţi la televizor. Ar trebui să ne culcăm devreme pentru că, nu-i aşa?, nu mai putem pierde nopţile pe internet&#8230; Nu tu e-mail, facebook, twitter, ştiri online, messenger, etc.  Ce viaţă monotonă ar fii!!!&#8230;<span id="more-1010"></span></p>
<p>Chiar aşa mult depindem de internet? Adevărul e undeva la mijloc: depinde de vârstă, ocupaţie, mediul în care trăim.</p>
<p><strong>Internet World Stats</strong> ne creditează, la nivelul anului 2010,  cu un procent de 35,5% al românilor cu acces la internet (7,8 milioane), raportat la o populaţie de 22 milioane. Părerea mea e că acest procent nu reflectă realitatea pentru ar trebui să se pornească de la o cifră de 18 milioane, restul fiind plecaţi peste graniţă, ajungând astfel la un procent de 43%. Alt aspect interesant este şi faptul că sunt luate în calcul gospodăriile ce beneficiază de conexiune internet. Dacă luam în considerare faptul că mulţi romani au acces la internet doar la locul de muncă, cred că ne apropiem binişor de 50%.</p>
<p>În ultimul raport scos de <strong>Akamai</strong> pentru primul trimestru din 2010, în ceea ce priveşte vitezele medii pentru conexiunile în bandă largă Romania ocupă un onorabil loc 3, după Corea de Sud şi Japonia.</p>

<p>Romania are 3 oraşe care intră în top 100 oraşe cu cea mai mare viteză medie la conexiune, plasându-se pe locul 5 în lume, după Japonia, Corea de Sud, SUA şi Olanda. Oraşele româneşti sunt în ordinea vitezei medii Constanţa, Timişoara, Iaşi.</p>

<p>Pentru vitezele maxime ale conexiunilor, România are 4 oraşe în top 100 şi ocupă locul 4, după Japonia, SUA, Corea de Sud. În top, pe langă Constanţa, Timişoara, Iaşi, intră şi Bucureştiul.</p>

<p>Ca sursă de atacuri informatice, România se plasează pe locul 8, în scădere faţă de alţi ani, pe primele locuri fiind Rusia, SUA, China, Taiwan, Brazilia, Italia, Germania.</p>

<p>Cea mai bună infrastructura pentru internet o are Constanţa, atât în ceea ce priveşte viteza medie a conexiunilor (locul 61 mondial cu 7623 Kbps) cât şi media vitezelor maxime (locul 13 mondial cu 34133 Kbps).</p>
<p>Anual, conexiunile în banda largă cresc cu aproximativ  25%, având una din cele mai mari rate de creştere din lume.</p>
<p>Avem o puternică infrastructură internet însă aceasta vine cu un cost, tarifele de transfer şi tranzitare în internet fiind relative mari (costul aferent unei benzi de 1Mbps este undeva la 10$/luna faţă de Japonia cu 0.27$/luna). Acestea s-ar explica prin faptul că atât timp cât internetul la noi este orientat predominant spre consumul domestic şi consumatorii sunt dispuşi să plătească, ISP-iştii nu işi bat capul cu optimizarea rutelor prin peering.</p>
<p>Toate acestea ne conduc la concluzia că stăm foarte bine la viteză şi satisfăcător la procentul celor care au acces la internet.</p>
<p><strong>Prin urmare, pot românii să-şi dezvolte afacerile pe internet?</strong></p>
<p>Sunt optimist în această privinţă. <strong>CÂT</strong> dar mai ales <strong>CUM</strong> puteţi citi în următorele “episoade”.</p>
